Intended audience

Operators involved in rope access system;
Operators involved in rope access system (subsequently they will have to also attend the supervisors module)
Any other individuals concerned such as employers, freelancers, security staff and inspectors.

Prerequisites

Participants must be:

  • in good, self-certified physical and mental condition;
  • of age.

Objectives

Provide the necessary skills (knowledge and ability), for carrying out rope access work.

Course fee

840,00€ per participant at Kong premises (VAT exempt).

Confirmation of the course will be sent by e-mail at least 10 working days before the fixed date.

The course will be activated upon reaching a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 8.

Contents

  • Presentation of the course. General regulations regarding hygiene and safety at work with particular reference to construction sites and work at height.
  • Analysis of evaluation of the most recurring risks in working at heights (environmental risks, falls from heights and suspension, the use of particular equipment and substances, etc.).
  • Specific PPE for work on ropes (a) harnesses and helmets (b) ropes, lanyards, webbing, shock absorbers energy (c) connectors, brakes, blockers, pulleys relating to access, positioning and suspension.
    Their suitability and compability with equipment and substances; maintenance (daily check and periodic, cleaning and storage, responsibility).
  • Regulatory classification and techniques for creating anchorages and re-anchors.
  • Illustration of most frequent types of work with ropes, re-anchor according to the methods access and exit from the work area.
  • Techniques and operating procedures with access from above, lowering or descending on ropes and techniques bottom access (fall factor)  
  • Risks and methods of protecting ropes (edges,knots,wear)
  • Organization of team work, operator tasks and communication methods.
  • First aid elements and rescue operating procedures: illustration of the contents of the kit recovery and its use.   
  • Movement on fixed access lines (overcoming barriers, climbing stairs safely fixed, pylons and long ropes).
  • Application of operator positioning techniques.
  • Safe access to the places where the anchors are made.
  • Creations of anchorages and re-anchors on artificial structures or on natural elements (static, dynamic, etc.).  
  • Execution of descents (operator suspended at the end of the rope) and descents (operator in motion on the rope already stretched or carried along), even with spilts.   
  • Performing operational techniques with access and exit located high above the workstation (ascent and recovery techniques with hoists or other specific equipment).
  • Execution of operational techniques with access and exit located below the workstation work (rope positioning, re-anchors,etc.).
  • Application of lifting, positioning and lowering techniques for materials. 
  • Application of evacuation and rescue techniques.

PPE and Log book

Participants are advised to bring their own PPE (if already in possession), clothing and footwear functional for training. If the PPE are not suitable, the organization will provide to supply them.
Who has already the Kong Log Book, should bring it in order to update.

Certification

A qualifying certificate is issued upon successful completion of the course and test.

Payment procedure

Bank transfer within two days of receipt of the course confirmation. Registration will only be officially confirmed upon receipt of the fee.

Cancellation

In case of cancellation Kong S.p.A. will retain:

  • 50% if the cancellation is made within 5 working days before the beginning of the course
  • the entire fee if the cancellation is made from the fourth working day before the beginning of the course, at the beginning of the course or after the course has started

Any absences for health reasons only entitle the fee to be suspended.
